What causes Acne?
Acne is caused by pores which become clogged and then infected with bacteria. It is not necessarily caused by diet or lack of hygiene. Acne treatments typically aim to destroy the bacteria or improve the function of the skin so it does not become clogged.
You can trust the Radiance Liposculpture Medspa Center professionals for effective, state-of-the-art Facials in West Palm Beach.
How can Acne be treated?
There are several different methods for treating acne.
Antibacterial pills
Because bacteria cause acne, most mild to moderate acne will respond to antibacterial medication. However, these medications can interfere with other medications and may have side effects.
Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels are a category of advanced clinical skin rejuvenation treatments that aid in reversing damaged skin due to factors such as aging, sun exposure and acne. There are three levels of Chemical Peels ranging in intensity and strength:
Blue Light Phototherapy
During Blue Light Phototherapy, high-intensity blue-violet light is applied to the face by a medical professional. The light activates photosensitizers within the acne bacteria. This creates a toxic bactericidal environment in the sebaceous glands, which inhibits the formation of the acne lesions. The light may be applied alone or may be combined with an anesthetic. Seventy to ninety percent of acne is cleared after the recommended number of treatments.
LED Skin Rejuvenation
Blue LED Lights cause a shock response in bacteria, which causes them to die, clearing acne. LED Skin Rejuvenation is completely safe because the light is cool and is not harmful to the skin. There are no undesirable side effects. You can see results after the first treatment, and they become more dramatic after each session.
Acne LuxV Treatments
Lux V clears acne safely and effectively with a series of concentrated pulses of light and heat. The green wavelength light penetrates deep enough into the skin to cause proliferation of endogenic porphyrins, resulting in the destruction of the P.Acne.The red wavelength produces anti-inflammatory results. The addition of heat, unique to the Lux V method, further increases the effectiveness by opening the skin.
Ultraviolet Light Therapy
Ultraviolet light has been used to sterilize equipment for years. It can be applied to the face to destroy bacteria such as those that cause acne. The two types of ultraviolet light are UVA and UVB. UVB light can be used on its own, while UVA light must be combined with topical medication in order to show results.
Photodynamic Therapy
Photodynamic Therapy is used to treat severe acne. A photosensitizer drug is administered to the patient topically or through an injection. When light from the laser is directed on tissue containing the drug, it becomes activated, and the tissue is rapidly destroyed. Patients can return to regular activities immediately following the procedure; however, they must stay out of the sun for a few weeks after treatment.
Accutane®
In the case of severe acne that does not respond to other treatments, you can talk to your physician about Accutane®. This drug may have temporary but serious side effects. It is also contraindicated for many medical procedures and is not suitable for everyone.

Oily Skin
Remember, there is no way to completely prevent oily skin from occurring, but hopefully these tips will help keep the oil and acne under control:
Although dirt and oil on the surface of the skin do not cause acne, excessive oil on your skin may exacerbate the clogging of pore openings, so proper washing is often a good way to keep the situation from becoming worse. Most topical acne medications have a drying effect on oily skin.
Try a mild cleanser that cleanses without drying.
Do not use any oil-based cosmetics, which will only aggravate oily skin.
Use water-based, non-comedogenic cosmetics.
Remove your makeup before going to bed, but avoid cold creams and lotions.
Eat a healthy well balanced diet.
Reduce stress. Doctors have seen a connection between stress and acne for a long time. Studies have shown that the body produces more androgens when a person is under stress. The increase may trigger acne flare-ups by stimulating the sebaceous glands to pump out more sebum. Even physical stresses, such as colds, allergies, surgery, or menstration, can trigger break-outs.

Dry or Sensitive Skin
Dry skin in the fall or winter is a common problem. There are some steps you can take to get your skin into shape after the summer sun and water exposure have depleted precious moisture and nutrients. Dermatologists fall and winter mantra is "moisturize, moisturize, moisturize". Here are a few helpful tips to make the most of your moisturizing experience:
Don't over bathe
Add bath oil
Moisturize immediately after washing
Carry extra hand cream with you
Switch to a créme based skin care regimen
Use an active ingredient if necessary
Humidify your environment

Acne Prone Skin
Acne is a skin condition that affects individuals with oily skin especially teenagers and young adults. It is characterized by cysts or pimples such as blackheads and whiteheads. Acne results when skin oils accumulate below keratin plugs in the openings of the hair follicles and oil glands. These plugs get clogged with irritating secretions and bacteria.
Acne can be treated or avoided in one or more of the following ways:
Using topical medication for mild acne.
Avoiding oily greases and creams on the skin.
Men should soften their beard before shaving and not shave against the grain.
See a doctor about prescribing an antibiotic.
Light and/or laser treatments have led to excellent improvement in acne.
Women can frequently benefit from the birth control pill.
