BOTOX® onabotulinumtoxinA controls the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when antiperspirants and medicines do not work by intercepting stimulator chemicals in the nervous system that activate sweat glands. The severe sweating disappears when the sweat glands stop receiving the chemical signals. Of course, BOTOX® injections temporarily only stop the production of excessive sweat in the areas that have been injected. The other areas of your body will still be able to perspire.
Where does the sweat go?
It is not a question of where it goes at all, because sweat is no longer being created by the sweat glands. As mentioned before, the rest of your body will still remain capable of sweating.
TREATMENT PROCEDURE
During the procedure in the relaxing treatment rooms of New Radiance, BOTOX® is injected into the affected area (the underarms, palms or feet) with a high-gauge (small diameter) needle. About 15 injections are made to the affected area. The procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes and lasts up to 6.5 months.
Noticeable reduction in sweating will begin within 4 weeks of treatment.
RESULTS
BOTOX® treatment is proven. One clinical study involved 322 patients with severe underarm sweating: Half of the patients had a successful treatment duration of at least 201 days or 6.7 months.
