Finally you can get rid of your discolored, cracked fungal toenails or onychomycosis with the latest laser advances. While lasers may seem scary to some, they are used daily for cosmetic procedures using safe light energy.

The CoolTouch CT3Plus CoolBreeze produces laser energy that is specifically absorbed by water which is associated with the collagen in the nail matrix. The Cooltouch laser is so sophisticated that it automatically detects the proper target temperature needed to achieve destruction of the nail fungus. The laser treatment stops immediately when this temperature is reached and then the nail is cooled with a automated cryo spray. This allows for fungal death without damaging the skin or the nail growth plate. Cooltouch’s impeccable safety emanates from its incorporating pulsed cooling and real-time temperature feedback into its treatments. In addition, the CoolBreeze Handpiece features an adjustable spot size from 3 mm to 10 mm allowing for adjustments based on nail size for most effectiveness. Other lasers currently being used do not incorporate these advanced features for patients leading to less desirable outcomes and minimal safety features. The Cooltouch laser can kill nail fungus automatically while incorporating safety. Each patient receives a customized treatment leading to the best possible outcome. This is truly unique and a feature not available on other lasers.

While there are several laser technologies available, The Pinpointe is essentially a laser designed for dental procedures with modifications to capture a new market, toenails. So the design and treatment is less than optimal. The Pinpointe has a small spot size that can produce a problem known as stacking. Stacking comes from overlapping of the laser beam in the same area possibly leading to burns and damage. Small spot size can also lead to missed areas of treatment. Drs also do not like the fact that the laser treatment is performed with no control of the beam distance or desired temperature for fungal death and this leads to inconsistent treatments with poorly controlled outcomes. Additionally, the beam is not accompanied by cooling to avoid surrounding tissue damage. The current single treatment with Pinpointe has also become controversial. There is increasing evidence that to be effective, two or even three treatments are necessary and best for the patient. The single treatment protocol resulted from the fact that the doctor was charged each time the laser was turned on, hardly in the best interest of the patient.

Other laser treatments are one treatment, compared to the more effective Cooltouch with which two treatment or more are recommended. There are different growth phases of the nail and fungus and the best results occur when the patient receives at least 2 treatments with laser. The cost of 3 treatments with the Cooltouch is usually less compared to only one treatment with the Pinpointe laser.

Today, laser has become superior to all other remedies for fungal toenails. However, patients need to follow a maintenance regimen to prevent recurrence of the toenail infection. While success rates are high, no treatment can guarantee success all of the time.

Why Should I Choose New Radiance for My Laser Treatment?

New Radiance Medspa is a leader in laser technologies and has extensive experience and expertise providing patients with the latest advanced laser treatments. We have experience using many different lasers for many other conditions and have performed hundreds of toe nail fungus treatments.

How does the Cooltouch Laser Work?

The CoolTouch CT3Plus CoolBreeze produces laser light energy that is specifically absorbed by water and water associated with collagen. Collagen is a major component in the tissues of the nail and nail growth area as well as the skin. The laser is so sophisticated that it can detect and reach the proper target temperature, leading to death of the fungus. The treatment then stops immediately, and the the nail is cooled with a cryogen spray. The CoolTouch CT3 plus zoom is an industry-leading laser that was developed for skin treatment. This is a perfect fit for fungal nails since the nail is simply modified skin. The other current lasers for toenail fungus lack these advanced features and are essentially reworked dental lasers.

Is the Treatment Painful? Is it Safe?

The CoolBreeze mode on the CoolTouch laser provides a comfortable safe controlled treatment beyond most lasers by cooling the affected areas and closely monitoring the treatment temperature. The CoolBreeze mode provides one of the safest most effective treatments in the laser industry today. In studies to date, there have been no side effects, complications or adverse reactions. The CoolTouch has a long track record of safety since the company has been around for years.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

The treatment takes about 20 minutes for 10 toes. According to research, a single treatment is not the best option which is why 3 treatments are recommended, however treatment plans will be individualized for each patient.

Will the Treatment Hurt?

No, you should have no pain during the treatment. However, some people feel a warm tingling sensation.

Will this Treatment be Covered by Insurance?

Laser treatment of nail and skin conditions is not covered by insurance plans as it is considered a cosmetic treatment.

How Soon Will I See Improvement?

On average, a toenail will replace itself every 9-12 months. Healthy new growth will be visible within the first 2 months as your nails continue to grow following the laser treatment.

How Do I Prepare for My Visit?

  • Remove all polish, lotions and skin care products,      making certain that the skin of the foot and nail bed are completely dry      prior to treatment.
  • Debridement(trimming and grinding) of thickened nails      might be necessary prior to laser treatment.

Post Procedure Care and Preventative Measures

  • Use Tineacide cream and spray (three times week).
  • Allways wear clean socks or stockings.
  • Keep toenails trimmed.
  • Wear comfortable shoes and hosiery that allow your feet some breathing space.
  • Wear shoes, sandals or flip-flops in community showers or locker rooms.
  • Wash your feet every day, scrubbing your nails with disinfecting soap, drying them thoroughly.
  • If using nail polish, we recommend antifungal nail polish.

Who gets toenail fungus?
Almost 50% of people over 40 have experienced some type of toenail fungus. It is incredibly common, but more prevalent in athletes (due to trauma) and person with decreased immune systems.

The typical athletes’ foot fungus, called dermatophyte, is the same fungus that infects your toenails. Fungus loves a moist, dark environment like your shoes. The affected toenails can have a whitish superficial infection or a yellow to brown discoloration under the toenails that seems to destroy the nail as it grows. Left untreated it can become painful and cause secondary problems with ingrown nails and infections.

Previous topical solutions could not penetrate the nail to treat the underlying condition and worked only when caught extremely early often just slowing the spread. The oral medication worked better, but presented possible side effects to the liver and kidney.

Laser Technology kills the pathogens that cause toenail fungus. In clinical studies 88% of treated patients grew out a normal nail after one treatment.

Is the treatment safe?
There is no age or health restriction or limitations. In clinical studies there have been no adverse reactions, injuries, disabilities or known side effects
